Upcycled Rope Potholder

Over winter break, I let myself veg out in a way that’s highly unusual for me. I put my phone away, slept in past 8, wore pajamas until noon, and watched a string of movies that were popular a decade+ ago!

But while my body was happy to rest, my mind wasn’t having it. At some point, while watching a movie, I remembered how much easier it is to sit still when your hands are happy and busy. So without a second thought, I grabbed the remaining cord from the upcycled rope trivet I made a few weeks ago, cast it onto a knitting needle, and stitched a simple-square potholder that’s every bit as simple as it is functional.

I could have stopped there but, feeling fancy, I decided to accessorize it with a suede strip and a brass Chicago bolt. I love how it turned out and am hoping to try more rope-based projects soon. For now, hope you enjoy this one!
